Instruments you play - violin and piano as major instruments, recorder and marimba/vibes as minor instruments (areas of interest, but not formally instructed)
Level of playing ability - violin: advanced; piano: used to be advanced, but since 3 years ago, I'm a little rusty; recorder: intermediate soprano and tenor recorder, beginner-type level on alto; marimba/vibes: relatively untrained, but familiar with the keys, basic sticking, and pedal (vibes)
Performance ensemble experience - school band, Lakes Region Youth Orchestra, summer string institute orchestra, circuits, percussion ensemble, class "orchestra" at Maple Street
Music classes - Music Theory, Rocks to Bach, Audio Production (this semester), Band, Musician's Process (this semester)
Private lessons - Piano with Anne D'Olivo for 10 years; violin with Josef Firszt, Peter Blum, Elizabeth Sutton, Becca Kodis, and Joana Genova for 9 years, approximately

At first, I want to work towards auditions on violin; I would like to de-rustify my piano skills (like scales, through doing exercises, and brush up on old pieces and possibly learn a new one); I would like to maybe spend some time with mallet instruments, learning more about how to play. I might also want to do something with composing or arranging, and also explore conducting in terms of the aspects Mr. talked about (physical aspect, mental aspect, and listening aspect). A lot of the conducting part will probably be accomplished during band (for experience), but doing some other research online or by talking to Mr. might also be something good to do to improve my skills.
3. Do you need to obtain an instrument for this class? No, unless I decide to work on mallet instruments at all.
